Barcelona's transfer market strategy has once again sparked heated debate. They were reported to have extended an olive branch to Liverpool's Uruguayan shot-stopper Dawun Niunis with a whopping £39.7 million (HK$385 million) offer, however the move was flatly rejected by Liverpool.
However, there is much more to the story behind it than that. Behind Barcelona's offer is the fact that they are deep in thought about the striker. Dhawanunis is not the team's leading scorer, but he has been a revelation from time to time. It has been revealed that Barcelona plan to sign him on a new contract in June 2028 for a much lower price.
Recall that in the summer of 2022, Dhauniunis moved from Benfica to Liverpool for a then staggering transfer fee of £64 million, which could have topped out at £85 million with all the floating clauses. Despite Liverpool's overall lackluster performances, Dhauniunis' ranking in the team's top scorer list was made all the more remarkable by his half-price sale to Barcelona.
