Wolves have just sacked Garry O'Neill, closely followed by Southampton, who were bloodied 5-0 at home by Tottenham Hotspur in the early hours of Monday morning (16th), before also announcing the sacking of team leader Russell Martyn. In just 24 hours, the Premier League has seen the dramatic sacking of two coaches. Southampton became the first team in the history of the Premier League to lose by 5 goals in both halves, and the main culprit of this defeat was James Maddison, who took the title of "murderer" all by himself.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered two consecutive defeats in the league. Just 40 seconds into the game, James Maddison broke the deadlock and kicked off the carnage. Players such as Son Heung-min, Guluszewski and Berbischaya then created chances for James Maddison's goal, giving Spurs a 5-0 lead at half-time. In the second half, the Spurs replaced their starters early and put the final "salt" on the wounds of Southampton, eventually sealing the win with a score of 5-0.

Faced with such a crushing defeat, the Southampton club reacted swiftly by announcing the sacking of leader Russell Ma and the temporary acting of U21 leader Rusk. Back in 2019, Southampton suffered a 0-9 defeat at home to Leicester City when they were 0-5 down at half-time. Now, once again, Southampton have become a unique presence in the history of the Premier League with two half-time defeats by five goals, all of which took place on the back of two goals from James Maddison.
