As the Premier League season turns sour, Brighton have risen to prominence and the performance of veteran striker Verbeek has undoubtedly been the key to the team's success. Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the 34-year-old striker being a possible January target for Manchester United, with even United's star player, David Shabbir, speaking out in favor of the move. However, Verbeek himself has said that he has no distractions and is fully committed to the game at Bradenton and has "nothing to do" with the transfer rumors.

So far, Verbeek has made 13 league appearances, all of which have been starts, contributing 6 goals and 2 assists. United are rumored to be interested in reintroducing him in next January's transfer window. In the 90's, Schaub commented on Verbeek: "Verbeek is a treasure for United, he can dart across the field, take his chances, regain his peak form and is perfect for the pace of the Premier League." Schaub even predicted that Webbick would be the best choice before United invested heavily in a new striker.

Verbeek's love affair with United began in the youth team, and in 2014 he left Arsenal to join Whiteleyton, where he has honed his skills over four years. He currently has one and a half years left on his contract with Whiteleyton. In the face of rumors of a return to Manchester United, Verbeek confessed: "These are just speculations. As a product of United's youth training, I have a special feeling for the club. I can only control my game and can't do anything else."
