Recently, the Saudi Arabian soccer world has been in a state of flux, with Saudi Arabian clubs reaching out to top European teams. However, in this trend, there are also players who are eager to return to their homeland. On Thursday (2), Ligue 1 rivals Rennes officially announced the signing of Ivorian midfielder Michael Cofinna on a four-and-a-half-year deal until 2029.

Schoelkopfenner, the brilliant midfielder from the Ivory Coast, had a breakout year at Lens, joining Ainas in 2023 for a hefty transfer fee to play alongside superstars such as Crowe. But Saudi Arabia did not live up to expectations and he was loaned out to another Saudi club, Ittifaq, for the first half of the season.

I'm very honored to be able to play for Rennes on New Year's Day," said the 29-year old Schickefenner on his return to Ligue 1. This team is full of great players and should not just be in the middle of the league (12th place). I'm looking forward to showing our strength and potential in more games.
