On Saturday (14th), Liverpool shook hands with Fulham 2-2 at home, failing to take all three points for the second consecutive round of the league. In this match, Liverpool left back Andrew Robathan was undoubtedly the team's biggest failure. Not long ago, he first made a mistake, followed by a red card for accumulating yellow cards, and his continued poor performance has become a huge obstacle on the road to Liverpool's impact on the Premier League title.
In the early stages of the match, Liverpool put in a respectable performance. However, in the 11th minute, Fulham's Anders Penrina broke the Robertson defense by pumping in a shot from a tight space. While Robertson was unlucky to concede the goal, he was to blame for a serious mistake in the 17th minute. He was shown a red card and eventually ejected from the game after being beaten by Harry Wilson and kicked by his opponent.
Liverpool didn't give up on the game despite being down a man. Only 2 minutes after the resumption of the match, Gap scored a header to equalize the score. With the numerical advantage, Fulham took the lead again in the 76th minute. At the end of the match, Liverpool substitute Lodigo Menis scored with his heel in front of the goal to make the score 2-2.
The 30-year-old Robertson has been in the form of a "bomber" lately, giving away two penalties in the past month (against Southampton and Real Madrid, respectively). The red card exposed the fatal weakness of Liverpool's defense. However, Coach Schlosser defended: "Robertson suffered a knee injury during the game. I hope he can hold on. He has a tough character, but unfortunately the red card came up. Normally he should be quicker (to clear the ball) and that needs to be improved."
