French star Paul Pouba is set to return to Manchester United at the age of 31 after bidding farewell to Zuyuntas to start a new career as a follow up manager. The former Red Devil is reportedly set to return to the Theatre of Dreams in January next year, when he will be under the careful tutelage of current manager Ruben Emolian. In response, United legend Sascha has offered his thoughts on the pros and cons of re-signing Puba, which he believes needs to be thought through.

Puba had been banned for four years for a drug ban and his sentence was shortened on appeal. On Nov. 30, his contract with Zuyundas expired and he became a free agent. However, his ban will end on March 1 next year. Nonetheless, Sascha said that news of Puba's return to United for training has already spread and that Coach Emolian will personally develop a training program for him.

Sascha's comments quickly sparked a buzz, with the media following up on the story. He further emphasized that not only do the pros outweigh the cons for United to re-sign Puba, but it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He believes that Puba is a very special player, and that the return of Puba will help to fill the gap in United's currently weak midfield.

Puba joining as a free agent is certainly attractive for United. He is not expected to be overly harsh in terms of salary demands considering he has not played for a long time.

It's worth noting that Manchester United have never attempted to make the switch from temporary to permanent in their history. With Johnny Evans as an example, the possibility of United signing Puba this time around should not be underestimated.
