As the night wore on, Liverpool beat Hampton by a thrilling 3-2 scoreline and Mohamed Sana, in a moment of heroics, had scored twice. In a rare move, he didn't linger in the mixed interview area, but opened up to the public about his contract extension. He confessed that so far Liverpool has not signed a new contract with him, which makes him more likely to leave the team than to stick around.

Shana has spent seven seasons at Liverpool. In the past, he has only taken questions from the media after two key matches. Once was at the beginning of the season, when he scored his 40th goal, and the other time, when he beat Tottenham in the Europa League final. This time, Shana took it upon himself to mention this year's contract extension after the third game.

"At the beginning of December, I hadn't received a new contract. Maybe I'd prefer to leave, after all I've been struggling here for years and no team can match that, but it's not up to me or the fans." So said Shana.

He went on to add: "I'm not sure when it's time to hang up my boots. I intend to continue to perform at a high level. My family is only interested in the moment. My goal was to win the Premier League and I wanted to win the UEFA. I am very disappointed but things might turn around."

Liverpool have reportedly been in touch with Sana's agent, but are in no rush to broker a deal given Sana's hefty weekly wages - up to £350,000 - and the fact that Chinese playmaker Neo Di Jike has not renewed his contract with Alexandre Arnault.
