Tottenham beat Manchester City 4-0 in a Premier League extravaganza, however, on Tuesday (26th), the team suffered an upset. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario suddenly announced that he had suffered a serious fracture to his ankle and was expected to recover for "several months". Inexplicably, he sustained the injury for a full hour against City, a feat that would seem almost impossible to accomplish.
An official statement from Tottenham Hotspur noted that Vicario has undergone surgery on his fractured right ankle and will be kept under constant observation by the medical team. According to the Daily Mail, he has a long road to recovery and Tottenham have begun the search for a new goalkeeper for the January transfer window, ready to share the burden with veteran Fischakos.
In his public statement after the operation, the Italian international was emotional: "Football is sometimes passionate and sometimes it brings unexpected challenges. I suffered a broken ankle in the Manchester City game and still played for 60 minutes... I gave my all for the team... Unfortunately, it ended up requiring surgery... Let's meet again on the pitch!"
