Beijing time, January 12, Britain's Daily Mail disclosed that German soccer giant Borussia Dortmund is going all out to get Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford to join, vowing to stand out in the competition with Serie A giants AC Milan and La Liga powerhouse Barcelona.
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly scheduled a new round of talks with Rashford's representatives next week in an attempt to speed up the transfer process. Despite the rapport with United, the two sides still need to negotiate the terms of the transfer in detail. Sources revealed that Dortmund have drawn up a deal framework that follows the same pattern as the loan of Manchester United winger Sancho last season.
Looking back at the last transfer window, Dortmund successfully loaned Sancho and paid him an extra fee based on his performance and number of appearances. This time, Dortmund hope to establish a similar mechanism to reduce the pressure of Manchester United on Rashford's salary.
Rashford's £350,000-a-week salary at Manchester United is a lot of money for Borussia Dortmund. However, United have indicated that they are willing to loan out Rashford so that he can get more playing opportunities at other clubs. Whether or not this deal comes to fruition will largely depend on which side is willing to take on more salary.
Apart from Dortmund, Ligue 1's Monaco and Premier League's West Ham United have also shown great interest in Rashford. However, Dortmund has gained an edge over the competition with their good relationship with Manchester United and upcoming in-depth negotiations.
It's worth noting that Dortmund are also planning to sell their striker Mallon to Premier League club Villa and explore the possibility of taking Chelsea starlet Chukwuemeka on loan. These moves are aimed at freeing up more salary space and transfer funds for Dortmund to help them realize their ambition of signing Rashford.
