In an exclusive report by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona defensive heartthrob Ronald Araujo has revealed in private that he is deep in thought about his future destination in the winter transfer window, with the Premier League emerging as his dream next stop.
Araujo is frustrated with the current fierce competition in the team's central defensive line, realizing that his rivalry with Kubasi and Inigo Martinez is getting hotter and hotter. He failed to even get a chance to play in the most recent Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. And Barcelona's pursuit of Leverkusen's Jonatan Tah, a free agent whose contract is set to expire in June, is a move that certainly casts a shadow over Araujo's future with the team.
Araujo revealed in the dressing room that the Premier League would be his first choice if he chose to leave. As well as Italy's Juventus, England's Arsenal have also joined the race for him. Although Juventus are also looking for a defender to strengthen their squad, Araujo's passion and curiosity for Premier League soccer makes him prefer there. Arsenal's style of soccer is thought to complement Araujo's style of play, while on Juventus' part, with Araujo's agent based in Italy, this may give an extra edge to the deal.
However, FC Barcelona currently have no plans to send Araujo out on loan in January. However, the club will reconsider the decision if an irresistible and high transfer offer is received. Araujo has a year and a half left on his contract with Barcelona, but he has yet to show any willingness to extend it. The contract was signed in April 2022 and is valid until June 2026.
