On June 11, 2024, a tense battle between Benin and Nigeria took place on the stage of the 4th round of the group stage of the World Cup African qualifiers.
The drums of war were beating and the Nigerian team quickly got into the fray. In the second half, both players went all out. Nigeria tried to turn the game around by stepping up their offense, but Benin's sturdy defense and excellent teamwork allowed them to successfully withstand the onslaught of their opponents.
In the 85th minute, Olawoyin crossed the ball from the right side of the field and the ball was cleared to the bottom line by a defender's header. In the 86th minute, Onuachu's header went over the crossbar. Although these two chances could not be converted into goals, Nigeria's efforts in the second half were evident.
As the referee's final whistle blew, the match came to an end. Benin completed the comeback with a 2-1 win over Nigeria to win this crucial battle. Goals from Moune and Jordel Dosu were the key to the team's victory. Nigeria, on the other hand, led in the first half but eventually failed to withstand Benin's counter-attacks and unfortunately lost.
