Fenerbahce defense crisis
In a recent interview, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho bluntly revealed the struggles his team is experiencing on the defensive end. He noted that the team is in dire need of new blood to fill the gaps in the defense caused by injuries and transfer departures.
Mourinho revealed, "Obviously, we are facing a defensive crisis. The injury situation of Osterwald and Rodrigo Becon is not encouraging, and their absence has dealt a major blow to the team's defense. Osterwalder is not only an excellent center back but also a capable left back and his departure has left the team stretched in terms of defensive options."
Mourinho also mentioned the loss of Kadiolu towards the end of the summer transfer market, "At that stage, Kadiolu's departure certainly intensified the pressure on our defense."
Facing the current staffing of the team's defense, Mourinho looked worried. He said: "At the moment, we only have two center backs left, Sergei and Aktchichek, to cope with the second half of the season. This situation is simply uncontrollable. On the defensive end, we have a serious lack of personnel reserves, which will have a serious impact on our game."
Therefore, Mourinho emphasized, "We must focus on defense. We must bring in new defenders as soon as possible to fill the gaps in the defense. Only then will we be able to stay competitive in the remaining matches."
