In the 20th round of the English Premier League, Brighton and the strong Arsenal had a fierce duel, and finally the two sides shook hands with a score of 1-1. After the match, Brighton defender Van Hecke talked about his feelings and the team's performance in front of the camera.
"Winning is our instinct, and this desire has never been diminished by the fact that we have not won in eight consecutive games. This clash with Arsenal is undoubtedly a crucial battle for us. Today, every one of us gave our best and wrote a chapter of struggle with sweat." Van Hecke said passionately.
Nonetheless, Van Hecke also admitted that the team's problems were exposed in the game: "Although we tried our best, our defense was still insufficient and we easily lost the ball. Against such a strong enemy as Arsenal, any small negligence in defense could be the trigger for losing the ball. Nevertheless, I'm proud of my teammates for their resilience. We fought for survival and finally collected a point, which is certainly a result worth celebrating."
Speaking about the season as a whole, Van Hecke dissected it further, "Throughout the season, we've had a respectable 30-minute performance, both in terms of efficient offense and solid defense. However, maintaining a consistent 90-minute performance has been a problem for us. It's not easy to win games in the Premier League and we need to improve on that."
Talking about the opponent Arsenal, Van Hecke gave a high evaluation: "Arsenal is really a powerful team, and their attacking ability is especially outstanding. We should be happy to play against them and get 1-1. But to be honest, we still have room for improvement. If we can seize more chances, maybe the victory will be ours."
Finally, Van Hecke spoke about the team's younger generation: "If you look closely at the average age of our team, you will see that we are a young team full of potential and energy. Being young means unlimited possibilities, but it also means that we need to keep adapting and growing. Although we give our best in games, we still need to work hard. Stability is something we will work on in the future, and I believe that if we keep working hard, we will definitely be able to go to the next level."
