With the drums beating for the 20th round of the Premier League, Chelsea's newest star in defense, Colville, gave a forward-looking breakdown of his team's upcoming match away to Crystal Palace in the club's official interview.
Colville bluntly stated that with the Blues' steady rise in the league, opponents have begun to hold Chelsea in awe and there has been a shift in tactics. He elaborated, "Nowadays, opponents are more cautious against us, they tend to defend low and wait for the opportunity to counterattack, which makes us face a lot of hurdles on the attacking end."
In the face of this series of hurdles, Colville revealed that Chelsea are actively adjusting their strategy and gaining experience through every training session. He emphasized, "We are meeting the challenge with a stronger stance through relentless training. Preparation for every game is vital and we must be fully equipped to deal with any adversity. Challenges follow us everywhere and the only way we can keep exploring solutions."
Talking about the opponent Crystal Palace, Colville commented that it is a team not to be underestimated, especially good at solid defense and quick counterattack. He recalled: "Crystal Palace's performance this season is very impressive, we drew with them on the road and it was a very tough game. Their low defense and compact defensive system, as well as their excellent counter-attacking ability, make them more threatening at home. As a result, we are well aware that it will be a tough battle."
Nonetheless, Colville is convinced that Chelsea's goal for the away trip is to win. He said firmly: "Despite the bumpy road ahead, we travel to Crystal Palace with one goal in mind - victory. This is the perfect opportunity for us and the fans to bounce back. We want to win on the road and move further up the league table."
