Georgia and the Czech Republic drew 1-1 in Group F of the UEFA European Football Championship. The Czechs attacked like a tornado, launching 12 threatening shots, but failed to break the deadlock. However, it was the Georgian goalkeeper Madashuveli, who has written a new legend in the European arena, who has become an invaluable point-scoring hero with 11 successful saves, the only one in the last 20 years.
Georgia, playing in its first European tournament in history, picked up a key goal on the second wave of offense. Madashuveli made all 11 saves, making him the best goalie in European competition since Latvia made 12 saves against the Netherlands in 2004.
Statistics show that six of his 11 saves came on shots from inside the box. The Czechs were expected to score a whopping 3.11 goals (xG), but Madasuveli managed to stop 2.11 of them. After the match, wing Kiwaraszkylia exclaimed, "Madaszuveli's amazing performance helped us to keep a point, I am very lucky to have such a goalkeeper."
At just 23 years of age, Madashuveli plays for Valencia in Spain and is currently attracting the attention of giants such as LUFC and Newcastle. His contract is said to contain an £85 million release clause, but Valencia have revealed that only £30 million is required to be paid to release him.
