Uruguayan striker Kayuni, 37, took to social media platforms to declare the end of his national team career, a decision that signals his absence from the upcoming U.S. Nations Cup in the United States.

Kavuni wrote fondly on social media, "I choose to stop. Despite the few words, my heart is rippling. I am thankful for the years that I have shared with you, every moment is beyond precious. There is so much to say, so many stories to share. At this moment, I have decided to devote all my energy to the club game and, although my heart is with Uruguay, I will physically say goodbye to the national team."

Since making his Uruguayan debut in 2008, Cayuni has scored 58 goals in 136 matches for the national team, placing him second in the team's scoring charts behind Luis Suárez, who helped Uruguay win the CONCACAF Championship in 2011. Cayuni continued to perform well against Ghana in the 2022 World Group stage, although his side ultimately failed to make the three-man CONCACAF squad.

Last summer, Kayuni said goodbye to Valencia in La Liga and moved to Boga Jr. in the Argentine Super League. So far, he has contributed 15 goals in 34 matches, helping Boga Jr. reach the Copa Libertadores final. However, they unfortunately lost to Fulmines.
