With the reopening of the winter transfer window, Manchester United has once again stirred up a storm of transfers. According to The Sun, La Liga rivals Villarreal have shown strong interest in United's 22-year-old right-winger Fagendo Berlicha. United's team leader Tannhäuser has also expressed his willingness to release the Uruguayan starlet, who is expected to return to the La Liga.
Fagendo Berlicha joined United in 2020 for a £9 million (HK$90 million) transfer fee from Penarth, however, he has not been able to get much of a chance to play. He was loaned out to La Liga side Elavil for two seasons and has made 13 appearances so far this season, which is a new single-season high for him at United. However, he has not started since September last year, reflecting the fact that Tannhäuser does not intend to reintroduce Berisha even though Chaton Sinzu has been given the cold shoulder and Anthony Mathias is in poor form. With another right-winger, Amit Diarlo, back from injury, the situation for Berdychas is getting tougher and tougher. Therefore, it may be a relief for both sides if United sell him.
Villarreal are currently 13th in La Liga and are in desperate need of additional strength to boost their points tally. They believe that Fagendo Berlicha can help, but the transfer fee is not expected to be more than the 9 million pounds Berlicha paid when he joined Manchester United.
