Former Arsenal and Barcelona midfield general, Alexander Song, has taken to social media to engage in an interesting conversation with fellow countryman and NBA superstar Pascal Siakam about his years at Arsenal and his journey to Barcelona.
Alexander-Song laments, "Many footballers face an imbalance between income and expenditure. I played for Arsenal for eight years and it wasn't until the last four that I began to enjoy financial stability. This was both because of a significant increase in my salary and because I began to reflect on my spending habits. During my years at Arsenal, I struggled to accumulate even £100,000 in savings, and the outside world thought I was already a millionaire.
However, when Barcelona offered me the olive branch, I didn't think too much about how much I could gain from it. I just wanted my family to be able to live a carefree life once my soccer career was over. I met the sporting director of Barcelona and he confessed that I might not play many games, but that didn't affect my decision. I am convinced that I am about to become a millionaire."
