Barcelona narrowly beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in today's La Liga match in a jaw-dropping scene. In the 92nd minute of injury time, Barcelona winger Fernando Torres and Atletico defender Nicolas Sarchie erupted in a heated clash and were both ejected from the game for red cards.
The clash started when the two sides were fighting for the ball and Torres managed to clear the ball, only to tangle with Salch, causing the latter to fall to the ground. The two then engaged in a scuffle on the grass for several seconds.
It was a fiery affair, with Atletico players expressing their strong displeasure at the foul on Xavi that assisted Dembele's goal, and collectively voicing their protests to the referee after the game.
Despite the difficult process, Barcelona retained their position as La Liga leaders with this victory. Atletico, on the other hand, has been in the doldrums this season and is currently 14 points behind Barcelona in fifth place in the league.
Barcelona are about to face Real Betis in the Spanish Super Cup quarterfinals on Friday, while Atletico Madrid will face Almeria in La Liga on Sunday.
