In early La Liga action, Barcelona faced Osasina and Polish striker Robert Livundowski was unfortunate to receive a red card and was ejected from the game. The club swiftly appealed, seeking to have the international's punishment reversed. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport finally rejected the appeal and Robert Ljundowski faces a three-match suspension, according to the Spanish newspaper Daily Mail.
The incident went back to the first half of the match, when Robert Livundovsky was sent off for accumulating two yellow cards that turned into red cards. He made a rather sarcastic gesture at the referee as he left the field, which additionally resulted in an additional two game suspension. In total, therefore, will miss three league games.
Barcelona argued that Robert Ljundovski's gesture, which is quite common in other countries, was merely an expression of displeasure. However, the Spanish FA's Disciplinary Committee, the Grievance Committee and the Court of Arbitration for Sport all agreed that there was no need to reduce the sentence and insisted that the sentence be upheld.
Robert Livendowski will miss Barcelona's next three La Liga fixtures against Espanyol, Atletico Madrid and Atletico Gijon as a result.
