Barcelona have battled austerity while splashing out in the transfer market during the summer transfer window, a strategy that has sparked much controversy. With just three days to go until the first La Liga game, five new signings - Roberto Lewandowski, Rafael Jimenez, Julian Goudie, Kisiel and Andrés Iniesta - have failed to complete the registration process. It is rumored that Kisl and Iniesta may be on free transfers if they remain unresolved by Saturday (13th).

The salary cap has prevented the five new signings from being registered in time as Barcelona is burdened with huge debt and under strict financial constraints. According to ESPN, Barcelona signed free agents Kissel and Iniesta with contracts that clearly state that if the team fails to complete registration for them before the La Liga opener, they have the right to choose to become free agents again.

Currently, central midfielder Kissel and defender Iniesta are weighing up the possibility, but Barcelona have communicated with them to refrain from taking such a drastic step. In addition to these five new signings, renewed stars Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Busquets are also rumored to have failed to register successfully.
