Premier League giants Chelsea seem to have reached a stalemate in their quest to lure a new striker after releasing Romelu Lukaku this summer. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have taken a keen interest in Barcelona's shot-stopper Aubameyang. The former Arsenal star is expected to set foot in the Premier League again in less than six months after moving to La Liga in January.
Aubameyang, who has turned 33, terminated his contract early with Arsenal in January this year due to disciplinary issues and then joined Barcelona as a free agent. He scored 13 goals in 23 matches in La Liga, which was quite a bright performance. However, with Barcelona signing Roberto Lewandowski and Raphael Cavani in quick succession this summer, Aubameyang's place in the starting lineup is in jeopardy, providing Chelsea with an opportunity to capitalize.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea and Barcelona have opened talks on a transfer, but as of yet no concrete offer has been made. It is worth mentioning that Chelsea's manager Dortmund period of old acquaintance Ducao and Aubameyang relationship is very shallow, which may help to facilitate the deal. However, Chelsea also have other considerations in the striker position, such as the talented striker Sisqo who plays for Salzburg.
