Manchester City, the powerhouse that aspires to Triple Crown glory, is rumored to be splashing the cash again this summer to recruit new blood. The Spanish confidential newspaper revealed that team leader Pep Guardiola is in love with Spanish native midfielder Mikiel Marinu, and the club has secretly prepared a £50 million default payment with the intention of terminating the contract directly from the hands of Real Sociedad.
Manchester City's central midfielder Ferran Tinho is set to leave the club at the end of the season, however, Pep Guardiola appears to have found a successor to the 36-year-old midfielder - none other than Real Sussex's Miquel Marienu. According to Confidential, Manchester City have identified the 25-year-old midfielder as the ideal candidate for the job after observing Mikiel Marino's performances in La Liga and for the Spanish national team. Despite the fact that he is contracted to Real Sociedad until 2025, the deal contains a £50m buyout clause which City have no hesitation in honoring.
Indeed, Mikiel Marinho is no stranger to the Premier League, having briefly played for Newcastle during the 2017/18 season, albeit at a young age when his performances didn't attract much attention. However, his performances at Real Sociedad in the last four years have become increasingly refined, and he has managed to be selected for the Spanish national team and has joined forces with Manchester City midfielder Lodicas Gendi. Manchester City signed Lodikas Jandy from Sporting Madrid in 2019 for a transfer fee of £60 million, via a contract buyout.
