In a January 5 update, Mario Cortegna, a reporter for Marca, revealed that German defender Rüdiger, 28, has high expectations for his next working contract, and is hoping to see his weekly wage climb to an impressive £200,000 a week.
Rüdiger has appeared in 26 matches in all competitions this season as an indispensable stalwart of Chelsea, not only performing solidly on the defensive end, but also contributing two goals and four assists, demonstrating his all-round strength. With his current contract with Chelsea set to expire in the summer, a number of top clubs, including Real Madrid, have shown keen interest in him due to the impasse in contract extension talks between the two sides.
