Manchester United winger Facundo Peristeri has sparked hot debate about whether he will stay in the team after scoring in pre-season. Despite the possibility of staying at United, the Uruguayan starlet admits that it is not the best option and that he could be relegated to the bench amongst the substitutes and only play in the second team.

Peristeri, 19, moved from Penarol, Uruguay, to United in a £9million transfer last October but had limited opportunities to play and was loaned to Alaves in January, making 12 La Liga appearances.

After United's 2-1 defeat to Derby County, Solskjaer revealed plans to take Peristeri on loan again, just like another goal-scorer, Tahith Chong, who has had a loan move to Championship Birmingham City confirmed.

However, in an interview with United TV station MUTV, Peristeri was adamant that he wanted to stay in the team and win a place.

Spanish newspaper As is reporting that Solskjaer could change his mind about keeping Peristeri due to his persistence. Despite the fact that he had a chance to play in pre-season, the road ahead seems to be getting narrower and narrower.

Currently, United are missing Cavani, Rashford, Martial, Amadou Diallo and new signing Sancho from their starting lineup for Peristeri to have a chance. But by the time all the players return, he may only be able to play Premier League 2 in the second team.

With United's competition for the winger position fierce, with Rashford and Martial on the left, Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Diallo on the right, Daniel James able to play both left and right, and the likes of Lingard and Mata also capable of playing on the wing, Peristeri's fate seems to be in jeopardy.

However, if United were to suffer a massive injury, Peristeri might be able to be blessed with the opportunity to play. But that doesn't happen very often, and it would make the most sense for Peristeri to go on loan to La Liga again to gain experience in European competition before returning to England for the challenges of English soccer.

If Peristeri ends up staying at United, he could meet a new coach in the second team - former United youth center back Paul McShane. He returned to his old club as a player and coach this week.

McShane came from Manchester United's 2003 Youth FA Cup winning team, but never represented the first team, and since his return has joined Sunderland, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace, and was an Irish international. He has now received his UEFA A coaching certificate and is delighted to be back at Manchester United.
