It has been reported that Pogba's rumors at Paris Saint-Germain may have been a ploy to try and demand a higher extension salary from United, and that he seems to prefer spending the rest of his life at United to a move to Paris.
Pogba's contract with United expires next year and he expects the club to offer top wages to enable a five-year extension, when he turns 33 and may not leave Old Trafford again.
The Athletic have revealed that Manchester United are trying to convince Pogba to extend his contract in the hope that he will become a Red Devils player for life. According to the latest rumors, United are willing to offer €22 million a year, which is about £400,000 a week.
If Pogba chooses to leave next year, he can move to Juventus or Real Madrid on a free transfer, both of which have shown interest in Pogba but are unable to bring him in, and are only looking forward to him joining for free when his contract expires.
Manchester United are also looking to bring in a new midfielder, with England international Declan Rice a target close to Solskjaer's heart. The West Ham vice-captain is currently on vacation with United left-back Luke Shaw and fans expect England's Carlos to convince him to join the Red Devils.
However, the 22-year-old Rice, who has a contract with the club until 2024, will not be easy to buy and cannot be sold without a price tag of more than £80 million. Moreover, between Luke Shaw and Rice sits Chelsea's Munter, who has been a close friend since his youth training days, and Chelsea is also a potential buyer of Rice.
However, the UK's Daily Star claims that United may consider other candidates, such as Wolves' Portuguese international Ruben Neves, who would command a transfer fee of just £40 million, half of Rice's. At 23 years old, Neves is equally young and has been playing in the Premier League for three seasons, and is more adapted to the English style of soccer than Rennes' 18-year-old French back Eduardo Camavenga. Neves is not exactly the same as Rice, whose passing and long-range shooting is superior to that of the West Ham iron-back.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also rumored to be interested in snapping up Ligue 1 Lyon starlet Houssem Oyar, who is also a target for Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal. Oyar has just two years left on his contract with Lyon, and ESPN claim the Ligue 1 club are willing to sell the 23-year-old midfielder and will do so for just £21.3m.
Oyar is versatile, able to play in the middle and on the left side of midfield, and is the heartbeat of the French national youth and Lyon FC. Last season, Oyar scored seven goals and three assists in 30 games, creating 39 chances.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is once again rumored to be involved in transfer rumors with Atletico Madrid midfield bruiser Saúl Niguez, whose agent has been in contact with United and Liverpool, and Barcelona is also interested in signing the Spanish international.
And according to Spanish newspaper As, the transfer fee for Saúl is now just £34 million. This is because Atletico need to cut players' salaries to meet the limitations of the La Liga salary cap, otherwise, they will not be able to sign any new recruits. And Saur's salary is £115,000 per week.
Barcelona are Saur's strongest rivals and could do a deal with Atletico Madrid old boy Griezmann. However, France's RMC Sport reports that it is a negotiation without the player's knowledge and may not be completed. As a result, it gives Manchester United and Liverpool the opportunity to snatch it. The Red Devils investigated Saur back in Fergie's time at United.
