Ramos has had a career as good as any in the Bulldogs. Since March 26, 2005, at the age of 18, he was first selected by Coach Aragonés to join the Spanish national team, and it has been a glorious chapter. He made his national team debut against the Chinese national team, switching to No. 15 in the second half, and Spain won 3-0. Three days later, he appeared again in the World Championship, and to celebrate his 19th birthday, he chose the No. 19 jersey.
Ramos wore Real Madrid's No. 4 jersey for the national team, but returned to No. 15 for Euro 2008, a choice linked to the death of his teammate Puerta, who died in 2007 and wore Puerta's national No. 15 jersey in a moment of grief. He expressed how much he cherished his friendship.
Spain won the championship in 2008 and won the World Cup for the first time in 2010, Ramos witnessed Spain's glory as the main right back. With the departure of his old teammates, he transformed into a center back and partnered with Piqué, who was both a rival and a friend in the club and national team battles. Ramos said of Pique, "Dislike each other on the pitch, but embrace in the national team." For his part, Pique said, "Respected in Madrid, cordial with Ramos and others."
Ramos was a member of the best XI with Spain from 2008 to 2012 when they won two European Cups and a World Cup, and he reached the pinnacle of his national team career when he defended the Euro 2012 title with Gerard Piqué. In the semi-final of the Champions League, Ramos won the victory for Spain with a spoon penalty, saying it was an important moment in his life.
In 2019, Ramos overtook Casillas as Spain's most-played player. 2020 saw him miss the Euros due to injury and a new crown, but the Spain scions kept his No. 15 jersey as a tribute.
Ramos is a hotshot on the field, but a good husband and father in life. 2012, he met and fell in love with Pilar, who is eight years older than him, and then got married the following year and had three sons. The Sun teased that he had completed the "hat trick" of having sons.
