Real Madrid have reached a preliminary agreement with the agent of French defender Varane to trade him with Manchester United, but the two teams are still divided over the transfer fee of nearly £20 million. According to The Sun, Real Madrid want United's Van Der Beek to join the deal in exchange for Varane.
Spanish newspaper As noted that Real Madrid bid 70 million euros (about 60 million pounds) for Varane, while Manchester United expect to buy him for 45 million euros (about 39 million pounds) plus add-ons for a total of no more than 43 million pounds.
United considered swapping Pogba with Real Madrid, but the other side were unhappy with Pogba's wages and the attitude of his agent Mino Raiola, and interest in Pogba has waned, especially after Zinedine Zidane's resignation.
It was previously rumored that Real Madrid had shown interest in Manchester United's Portuguese playmaker Diogo Dallo, who is highly rated by Carlo Ancelotti, but United would need to bring in a new right-back to replace Wambizka if they transferred Dallo. However, United's transfer attempt for England's Trippier has been rejected by Atletico Madrid and Solskjaer may not be able to bring in a right-back.
However, Real Madrid is equally concerned about 24-year-old Dutch midfielder Van der Beck. In the Champions League, Van der Beck often creates chances for his teammates by running and attracting Varane away from the defensive zone. Real Madrid were so impressed with his performances that they reached an agreement on his personal deal, but failed to close the deal last summer due to financial issues and were eventually signed by Manchester United. However, van der Beck was not utilized in his first season at United, making only four Premier League starts.
With just one year left on his contract, United would like to bring in a lower price, but adding Van der Beck to the deal would make it more likely to get Varane without having to pay too much cash. Last year, United signed the Netherlands international for £39m with a £35m down payment.
The Sun said that Real Madrid continued to keep in touch with Van der Beck's agent, the player's recent transfer rumors continue, AC Milan, Barcelona and other giants are included in its potential next home. Real Madrid hope to use the rent and then buy the way to introduce van der Beck, willing to pay 2 million pounds of loan fees, and bear its 120,000 pounds of weekly wages. Next summer, Real Madrid's financial situation improved, will buy out Van der Beck.
United previously rejected a loan move for van der Beck from his old club Ajax, in whom Solskjaer still has faith. But the reality is that the £39million man may still struggle to get a start next season and is not first choice in every position in central midfield.
United have Fred, McTominay, Pogba and Matic at the back; Bruno Fernandes, Mata, with Lingard also likely to extend his contract and stay in the team, and Pogba capable of guesting in that position; and on the left and right sides there are new signings Sancho, Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Martial, Amade Diarlo, Daniel James and even Pogba.
According to British media reports, van der Beck's positive attitude has been recognized by the United coach, but even so, if he stays in the team, he is likely to remain on United's bench next season. If he joins Real Madrid, the La Liga style is more suitable for him, and with the age of midfielders such as Modric under Ancelotti, he is bound to have more chances to play.
Meanwhile, the British Independent says that the transfer negotiations between Manchester United and Real Madrid over Varane will be long and difficult, and it will be difficult to reach an agreement before the end of July. The Red Devils fans are afraid that they will have to be patient with who the new center back will be. But Crystal Palace winger Townsend believes that getting Varane would dramatically improve United's chances of winning the title. As you can see United are head and shoulders above the rest and have a lot of options up front, Sancho would further enrich the attack, while Varane, if he joins, will solidify the defense. He's tall, robust and fast, says Townsend, and I think Varane will help them get closer to their goal.
