On June 30th in China, Premier League side Everton officially unveiled Rafa Benitez as their manager for the next three years, and on July 5th the veteran footballer will officially take over the reins to kick off the team's summer preparations.
The 61-year-old Rafa Benitez is well known in the soccer world, having coached Liverpool, AC Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid among Europe's top clubs. The highlight of his career was the 2004/05 season, when he led Liverpool to the Champions League trophy under the Istanbul night sky. In addition, he coached Valencia twice, helping the team win the La Liga title, and in the summer of 2019, Rafa Benitez left the Premier League to join the Chinese Super League, becoming the manager of Dalian Ren (formerly known as Dalian Party) and completing his China coaching career earlier this year.
Talking about joining Everton, Rafa Benitez could not hide his excitement: "I am incredibly proud to join the Everton family. In my exchanges with the club's senior management, I was indelibly impressed by the ambition they showed and their pursuit of club glory."
