Spain hosted Poland in the finale of the second round of Group E at the Olympic Stadium in Seville. Spain took the lead with a goal from Morata, but Levan stepped up to equalize. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
After two rounds of group games, Group E has become a veritable "Group of Death". With the final round of matches yet to begin, the four teams have 4, 3, 2 and 1 points respectively, and are all expected to advance to the top of the group.
In the first round of the group stage, Spain, seeded as a team, drew 0-0 with Sweden, the Triple Crown champions unexpectedly cold. Poland, led by World Footballer of the Year Levan, suffered a 1-2 defeat against Slovakia in their opening match.
In the second round, Sweden beat Slovakia 1-0 to lock up the top three in the group with four points, while Poland is in a desperate situation, with the crisis of going out without a point in this round.
Spain manager Luis Enrique made just one change from the starting line-up that drew with Sweden in the first round, pushing for Morata to start, with Manchester City winger Ferran Torres dropped in favor of La Liga's top homegrown goalscorer, Gerard Moreno, while Poland were led by Levan.
In the 26th minute of the first half, Gerard Moreno sent a precise pass to Morata, who managed to grab a shot from the opposite side of the field to score the 20th goal of his national team career, and the Juve striker rewarded Enrique's trust with a goal.
Despite the desperate situation, Poland did not give up. Poland equalized in the 53rd minute of the second half, when Juiwiak's cross was headed home by Levan over Spanish center back Laporte.
Levan scored his third goal in his 13th Euro appearance, three goals from three Euro Cups, making him and Crowe the two players who have scored in the last three Euro Cups.
In the 57th minute of the second half, Gerard Moreno went down for a penalty in the box, but once again, fate favored Poland as Gerard Moreno's own penalty hit the post and bounced out, and Morata's follow-up kick went wide.
In the end, the match ended in a 1-1 draw for Spain against Poland, with both teams taking a point each.
After the second round of the group stage, Group E has become a well-deserved "group of death". 4 points from Sweden, 3 points from Slovakia, 2 points from Spain, and 1 point from Poland are at the bottom of the list.
None of the four teams have advanced, and all four have a chance to qualify. The meaning of the "Group of Death" is that all four teams will take the initiative to go out in their own hands, and even all four teams may be able to advance as the first group.
In the final round of the group stage, Poland with one point will face Sweden with four points, while Slovakia and Spain in the center will face off.
Although Sweden with 4 points has locked up the top three in the group ahead of schedule, and 4 points is basically enough for the Nordic Pirates to advance to the knockout stage as the third in the group. But theoretically, Sweden has still not advanced.
If Poland beats Sweden by a large margin in the final round and Spain remains undefeated against Slovakia, Poland will be expected to top the group against all odds, and accordingly, if Sweden doesn't win against Poland, Spain is expected to top the group with a win, while Slovakia is also expected to do the same.
