Aguero's contract with Manchester City came to an end as the Premier League season came to an end. The Argentine shot-stopper joined La Liga giants Barcelona as a free agent and made his debut at the Camp Nou.
As a flag of Manchester City, Aguero played in the Blue Moon for a whole decade. Despite the expiration of his contract this season, Manchester City did not renew his contract, and Aguero resolutely chose Barcelona to continue his soccer career.
Aguero played his last game for Manchester City in the Champions League final, and after the match he reported to Barcelona in a hurry. In fact, his contract with Barcelona has long been agreed, but both sides chose to keep it a secret as the City contract has not yet ended.
Aguero was spotted at Barcelona just 48 hours after the Champions League final and the club officially announced his signing. Aguero has a two-year deal with Barcelona, which includes an 80 million release clause.
In an official statement, Barcelona said, "Barcelona has reached an agreement with Aguero, who will officially join the team when his contract with Manchester City ends on July 1st. The two sides signed until the end of the 2022-23 season with a release fee of 100 million euros."
Aguero said: "We all know that Barcelona is the best club in the world and I think it was a wise decision. I want to help the team and, of course, I'm very happy with this new step in my career. I want to bring joy to the fans, I will do my best and hopefully the fans will like me. First of all, I'm going to try to play and help the team, and if the team does well, I'll be very happy. Hopefully, at the end of the season, we will win the championship."
Aguero reflected on his career, "I was only 18 years old when I came to Europe and I learned a lot at Marid Athletic before I came to the Premier League to play for Manchester City. I've changed my game now and I know I can continue to play and I'll use my experience to help the team."
