River Plate FC has been hit hard by the new crown tests, with 20 players having tested positive, which certainly casts a shadow over the upcoming Copa Libertadores tournament, where it is feared that non-goalkeeper positions will have to be temporarily delegated to fill in the gaps.
The number of positives in the ranks has surged to 20 following five new positive cases from the last test, with four goalkeepers not spared and set to miss Wednesday's Copa Libertadores match. The previous 15 positive cases were revealed before last Saturday's Copa Argentina match. Unfortunately, there are also a number of injuries to players in the squad.
According to reports in the Argentine media, River Plate FC has asked CONCACAF to postpone the match or agree to register two new goalkeepers, but it is understood that CONCACAF has categorically rejected the possibility of registering new players. With this, River Plate FC may only have 10 players available for the Copa Libertadores.
