After leaving Dalian to return to the Portuguese Premier League, Boateng returned to play for his old club Aviva, making 61 appearances over two seasons, scoring 13 goals and assisting four times. After his contract expired, he was rumored to be on the move in the summer with Sekacay Arabian of the Saudi League and Gaziantep Metropolitano of the Turkish Super League. Eventually, he chose to return to Asia and joined Sekacay Arabian.
