Stirring news came on Dec. 26 that Salvador, the former Guangzhou coach, was about to take the helm of Chongqing Tongliang Dragons.
Chongqing Tongliang Dragons Football Club is pleased to announce that Mr. Salvador Suai Sanchez will officially take over as the first team manager with immediate effect.
The 45-year-old Spaniard has had a glittering coaching career, with an avant-garde tactical philosophy and a unique perspective on soccer. He has worked as a ladder coach at La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and Villarreal, and has also been at the helm of first-team squads at Torre Levante in Spain, Cali America in Colombia and Envigado.
In 2018, Salvador kicked off his Chinese soccer journey, serving as head coach of Guangzhou Football Club's U15 and U19 ladder teams and Wuhan Sanzhen Football Club's reserve team.In June 2023, he became the head coach of Guangzhou's first team, leading the team to a third-place finish in the 2024 season's Chinese League One.
We firmly believe that Mr. Salvador's arrival will inject new vitality into Chongqing Tongliang Dragons, build a brand new tactical system, and help the team climb to a higher peak!
Notably, Salvador will join forces with three Spanish coaches, Sergio Pau, Daniel Carmona and Chinese coach Niu Zhenning, who will serve as goalkeeping coach.
