[Breaking] December 17, 2024, Nanjing came heavy news: the Youth Olympic Sports Park stadium will usher in a magnificent transformation, not only will be transformed into a top-class soccer stadium with a capacity of 50,000 people, but also has the ability to transform into a tennis court.
This upcoming professional soccer stadium will be the first professional-level soccer mecca in Nanjing. In the future, top soccer events such as the Chinese Super League and even the Asian Cup may be staged here.
Although the stadium was originally built according to Olympic standards with first-class facilities, its potential was not fully released due to seating constraints. It is reported that there are already 3 soccer training fields and 11 natural turf training fields in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park, providing unique conditions for renovation. By optimizing the layout of the stands and adding supporting service facilities, the renovated stadium will be able to accommodate 50,000 spectators.
What's more surprising is that the renovation project will also include temporary adjustments to functional areas such as VIP, players' and referees' areas, and the laying of tennis-specific surfaces to create a tennis finals venue with about 12,000 spectator seats and a semi-finals venue with 8,000 spectator seats. The sunken grandstands will be modularized for flexible switching.
In the future, the stadium will be like a Transformer, changing its shape according to demand. The stadium will be used as a soccer stadium on a daily basis, but when tennis matches come around, it will be easily transformed into a tennis court, thus realizing multi-functional integration.
