Ipswich suffered a heartbreaking 0-6 defeat at the doorstep of the Premier League on January 20th to a strong Manchester City side, and Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna gave a detailed analysis of the game in today's Match of the Day interview.

McKenna was blunt in his disappointment: "It was a tough loss for us, and we felt the pressure of playing against a world-class team that had a glimmer of light at first but was unstoppable after they scored the first goal and we lost our way and couldn't find a way to get back into the game."

He went on to elaborate, "City showed a very high level of performance today and once they got into that rhythm, the difference between us was obvious. their attack was like a flow of water, efficient and threatening, and we were overwhelmed. after we conceded the goal, they attacked more and more, and our team's confidence was hit hard."

Despite the frustration of the result, McKenna also recognized the resilience of his team in the closing stages of the game: "In the last 25 minutes, our players showed resilience, they didn't give up in the face of adversity and they regrouped, which gives us a glimmer of hope and shows us that if we stick together, we can overcome all the obstacles."

Talking about the future of the team, McKenna is confident: "The players are giving it their all, knowing that they are facing a formidable opponent today. we will have tough moments, but will never use that as an excuse. we will learn from this game and try to improve."

Finally, McKenna looked ahead to the upcoming match against Liverpool: "We thank the fans for their continued support, and on Monday, we will gather the whole team to analyze the shortcomings and prepare for the match against Liverpool, which is a huge test away from home, but we won't back down, and we're going to do everything we can to get a better result."
