The Brazilian government declared three days of national mourning for Pele, who died on Dec. 29 last year of multiple organ failure caused by colon cancer. The bill, which was initially approved by the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies last December and submitted to the President for approval on June 11 of this year, is now in effect.
