The team won its first game after TSM defeated -Santos Laguna, 2-3, in a game that corresponded with Day 5 of the 2022 tournament, with San Diego- resting on three points.
The region of Lagunera witnessed a game that urged them not to finish last in the overall standings. Americas, in crisis, entered the House of Santos as a basement man, which is a compromised team.
At first, fate smiled on the house. A winger couldn't be cleared by a trailing post in the box and the ball hit Bruno Valdes, who incredibly pitched the ball to the bottom of his own arc to finally give the lead.
Santos' dominance wouldn't last long. Suffering a draw in one game, Mauro Lainez found the bottom of the net, connecting Diego Valdes with the head to keep him out of Acevedo's range.
Nonetheless, the game was slow and chaotic, with constant fouls hampering the smooth flow of play, but despite this, the emotion continued as both sides scored goals to leave the half-time half-parity.
First up was Matthews Doria. The center back joined the attack from a corner kick, where Jordan Silva got in position for a layup and fired a powerful shot that hit the right post in a way that would have been impossible for Guillermo Ochoa.
Santos seemed like he would take a step ahead, but a defensive lapse stopped him. One of Lainez's new centers was attacked hard by Felix - who took the fight out of Acevedo and tried to leave. It could have been fixed, but Salvador - foresaw it and managed to get the ball to the bottom.
In the bye, Copa's men found the flip-flop. A foul in the box was penalized by Santander and Bruno Valdes, eager to pull the sting out of racing, executed Acevedo with a shoe. A rollover was achieved.
In an unfavorable situation, Santos started to have more of the ball and played in the Azurrema area, but did not generate enough danger to disrupt Guillermo Ochoa. Fernando Gorrillar only threw one shot, but other than that, the home side couldn't find anywhere to suggest a game.
With the win, the Amerks reached four units, while Santos was left with just one unit remaining at the final site of the game.
