According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona is currently awaiting a court ruling on the dispute with the
Nike, Inc.
The outcome of the ruling on cooperation. The Club hopes that this ruling will facilitate a more positive phase in the negotiations between the two parties, which will lead to the conclusion of the renewal of the cooperation.
Barcelona
has recently indicated its interest in renewing the partnership despite months of tension with Nike. The tensions between the two sides stemmed mainly from the club's dissatisfaction with the American company in areas such as apparel production and distribution, and the enforcement of contract terms. Barcelona had even announced the termination of a contract that was set to last until 2028, but the move was ruled invalid by a court, which also barred the club from negotiating with other brands.
Currently, Barcelona and Nike have reached a preliminary consensus on a contract extension of at least ten years, which includes more than 100 million euros of compensation for the renewal of the contract and close to 100 million euros of revenue per year. However, the two sides in the contract period and other details still have differences.
For their part, Barcelona have said they hope that the forthcoming court ruling will boost negotiations with Nike into a more positive and effective phase, culminating in an agreement on a new deal.
