The desire to leave the club for free has hit a snag. Despite Immobile's desire for Lazio to allow him to leave without compensation in consideration of his contribution to the club over the years, Lazio president Claudio Lotito insisted on a transfer fee of between €4 million and €5 million as compensation.
Immobile's next stop could be Besiktas of the Turkish Super League, who have prepared a tantalizing two-year contract for him with an annual salary of up to €6 million. However, the completion of the deal currently lacks only a nod of approval from Lotito.
Negotiations between Immobile and Lazio continue and there seems to be a certain divergence in the positions of both sides. Immobile wants to convince the club through emotional factors, while Lotito insists on the club's interests from a commercial point of view. The amount of the transfer fee could be a key factor in the success of the deal.
