Meslier (name)
Danish U21 international Philippe
Jorgensen (name)
, Lance goalkeeper Samba and Las Palmas goalkeeper Valles.
Marseille are in the process of reorganizing their squad with the takeover of Italian coach De Zerbi and the goalkeeper position has become an area to focus on. Pau Lopez is in advanced talks with Serie A promotion contenders Como, and he is thought to have a high probability of leaving Marseille. Nevertheless, Lopez will still train with the team until his personal issues are resolved.
Marseille is not only focusing on Meslier and Jorgensen, but also considering bringing in a bigger name goalkeeper such as Lens' French international Samba. However, Lens demanded a high transfer fee for Samba, which complicated the deal. Nonetheless, Marseille have not given up hope of bringing in Samba, as the French international played for Marseille between 2013 and 2017 and has expressed a desire to return to the club.
In addition, famous Italian journalist Di Marzio revealed that Marseille also showed strong interest in Las Palmas goalkeeper Valles. In the first six months of the 2023-24 season, Vales' outstanding performance attracted the attention of Marseille. Although Marseille have made an enquiry for Valles, the deal has yet to make substantial progress as of now.
Marseille's moves in the goalkeeper market show the club's determination to strengthen its defensive line. With the opening of the transfer window, Marseille will try to find the most suitable goalkeeper among the many candidates to ensure that the team will have a solid defense foundation in the new season.
