On the afternoon of June 30th, the 17th round of the Chinese Super League saw a much-anticipated matchup at the Qingdao West Coast Stadium, where Qingdao West Coast hosted the powerful Shanghai Shenhua. In the first half of the match, both sides started a fierce battle between offense and defense, but neither side could break the deadlock. Qingdao West Coast's Ma Lailai had a great shot on goal, but it was ruled out due to offside, making the home fans feel sorry for him. Teixeira, on the other hand, missed the chance to change the score in a great attacking opportunity, facing the Shenhua goalkeeper Shi Xiaotian's block, but regrettably hit the ball off the mark. At the end of the half, the two sides exchanged a 0-0 draw.

In the second leg, Qingdao West Coast continued to strengthen their offense, hoping to win at home. However, fate did not seem to favor them. Xie Pengfei broke through the defense to form a one-two early in the second half, but his shot failed to capitalize on the opportunity and was once again deflected by the Shenhua defense. Xie Pengfei then scored another goal, but again it was disallowed for offside, and West Coast's attacking efforts always seemed to fall just short.

As the game entered extra time, the atmosphere on the pitch became more and more tense. Just when everyone thought that the game would end in a draw, Shanghai Shenhua made use of a corner kick opportunity and Wu Xi leaped high in the penalty area and scored a header, which was a great success. The goal not only made the Shenhua team cheer, but also completely broke Qingdao West Coast's defense.

As the final whistle blew, the match ended with Qingdao West Coast losing 0-1 to Shanghai Shenhua. With this loss, Qingdao West Coast stays at the bottom of the Chinese Super League table with 13 points, and is in a precarious relegation situation. Shanghai Shenhua, on the other hand, reached 43 points with this victory and stayed at the second place in the table, continuing to fight for the title.
