As the Netherlands continue to soar at the Euros, the team's goalkeeper Feibruchten, in an interview with UEFA, reviewed his team's performance against Turkey in the quarter-finals and expressed his thoughts and expectations for their upcoming semi-final opponents, England.
Reflecting on the match against Turkey, Fabruchem singled out his team's excellent defensive performance in the final stages of the game: "In the last ten minutes, it was almost as if we had six goalkeepers! For every blocked shot or goal, we were as excited as if we were celebrating a third goal. It wasn't just me, it was the whole team. Players such as Weghorst, van der Ven, Dumfries, Scholten and others made key contributions which showed our determination and team spirit."
Fiebrücken understands the increasing demands on goalkeepers: "Nowadays, goalkeepers not only need to be able to make good saves, but also need to be able to control the ball and participate in the attack. I enjoy the feeling of controlling the ball on the field, and I'm happy to play my role in attacking tactics. But no matter what, my priority is always to make sure the goal is not lost, which requires me to constantly improve my reflexes and my ability to handle all types of shots."
Looking ahead to the upcoming semi-final, Fabricant said, "My teammate Dunk is part of the England squad and national teammates like Ake, Van Dyke and Gacobo also play for England. It does add something special to the game, but I don't think it will give us an advantage or disadvantage. Both sides know each other very well and it's going to be an even contest. I'm only interested in helping my team to win and get to the final."
Fabruchem also showed full confidence in the possibility of a penalty shootout: "If the game does go to a penalty shootout, we will be well prepared. In the past, I have had the experience of successfully saving penalties, but I have also had moments where I was penalized by the opponent. But no matter what, I will stand in front of the goal and confidently make a decisive contribution to the team. This is my responsibility and mission as a goalkeeper."
