Video footage from the scene shows Valverde's wife, Mina, being nearly hit by a cup thrown from the stands, before Mina immediately fled the scene with her children in her arms. A close source told Marca: "It was a very ugly scene and they felt very bad."
The latest news indicates that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against 11 Uruguayan players, including Núñez, who are at risk of suffering bans. Uruguay has until July 17 to respond to the investigation and provide evidence to mitigate possible sanctions.
