Leeds United Football Club

The soccer club has released exciting news on its official website: after a complex series of ownership changes, the club has finally regained full use of its iconic home stadium, Elland Road. This historic moment marks the first time that Elland Road has returned to the club's control since 2004, when financial difficulties forced the club to sell the stadium.

Elland Road has been the home of Leeds United since 1919, carrying countless memories and glory for the club and its fans. However, due to financial pressure, the club had to sell it in 2004. Since then, the ownership of the stadium has been transferred several times, and in 2017, Greenfield Investment Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Aser Group, acquired the stadium, which at the time was also the parent company of Leeds United FC Ltd. In December 2020, the ownership of the stadium was transferred to the newly formed Elland Road Stadium Ltd.

By July 2023, 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC achieved full control of Leeds United Football Club Limited and Elland Road Stadium Limited. Finally, on March 27, 2024, ownership of Elland Road Stadium was formally transferred to Leeds United Football Club Limited, completing this historic return.

In a statement, Leeds United Chief Executive Angus Kinnear said, "While this may seem like a small change in the structure of the company, I am confident that our supporters will have a deep understanding of the far-reaching significance of this change. It not only demonstrates the strong determination of our owners, but it is a statement to the world that Leeds United and Elland Road will always be closely linked."

It is worth noting that Elland Road has also been recognized as an Asset of Community Value (AoCV) and has been formally approved and listed by Leeds City Council through the efforts of the Leeds United Fans Trust. This means that the stadium is not only symbolically important to the club, but is also an integral part of the local community.
