America's Cup
Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated by the Uruguayan Football Federation after a physical altercation with fans following the semi-final.
After Uruguay's 0-1 defeat to Colombia, some drunken Colombian fans attacked the families of Uruguayan players, leading to 11 Uruguayan players, including Núñez, storming the stands and arguing with the fans.
The Uruguayan players against whom disciplinary proceedings have been initiated include Núñez, Jiménez, Melé, Viña, Matias Oliveira, Pellistri, Araujo, Brian Rodríguez, Emiliano Martínez, Bentancur and Cáceres.
The journalist wrote on social media, "Tonight at 8:00 pm, the Uruguayan Football Federation received information about the South
Copa America semifinals
The investigation file on the latter 11 Uruguayan players who were involved in an exchange of blows with a fan, which details the players involved, the course of events and the possible penalties. Each player's involvement in the assault is well-documented and lists the disciplinary provisions that were violated. The Uruguayan Football Federation has until July 17 to file an appeal, and then the punishment process will be formalized. The players are eligible to play in the Copa America third- and fourth-place finals against Canada, but if they are banned, it will be enforced during the World Qualifying Tournament in September. In addition, they may face fines."
